James Mitchell, is now RUNNING his own property maintenance business

James is only 24 from Birmingham

James Mitchell left school at 16 and trained as a chef. He had been working as a chef for 7 years but started to feel disheartened by the quality and standards in the kitchens and instead of being allowed to use his creative energies in cooking, he was often told to cook to a tight budget and in mass volume. James decided this was not what he wanted to do and so began to work out his whole future and rethink what he really wanted to be. After having many chats with his dad, a stone mason, he decided to put his creative and hands-on practical skills to use and train as a plumber. He enrolled with ATL Practical Training in March 2012.

James completed his NVQ level 2 at the beginning of 2014 and has been impressed with the training and facilities, in particular the Virtual Reality Programme “without it I just couldn’t have completed my NVQ”.

James says “I am dyslexic but this hasn’t stopped me doing the course and everyone has been very supportive. The opportunity to complete my NVQ in such a short time, saved me so much time and effort and gave me the confidence to go on to start up my own business. I could have opted to get a job in the plumbing industry but without my NVQ it would have been nigh-on impossible”. I would recommend these courses to anyone who wants to achieve the NVQ successfully. Their practical training guarantees successful completion of your NVQ!
