After coming to the UK as a refugee from Iran in 2005 Amir has not had it easy up until now.

Amir was a qualified Electronics engineer in Iran but at 19 year knew he needed to live his war ridden country to start a new life in the UK.

The qualifications he held in Iran weren’t recognised in the UK and so Amir had to find any job that he could, to earn the money to live. Amir worked hard and had always been a practical hands-on person, and he had learnt some plumbing skills from his brother who is a plumber in Iran.

Amir worked hard and saved enough money to take over a pizza shop in Cardiff, a bustling city with a high student population. He ran this for 2 years but due to the recession the pizza shop folded and this left Amir thinking of ways to earn money. His thoughts turned to getting back into trades. After sitting down with his wife, Amir decided to train as a plumber through one of our courses. He knew that without a full NVQ there is little prospect for jobs or employment and that he wouldn’t be able to complete it elsewhere.

Amir says “I feel so much more confident having now completed my full NVQ. I couldn’t have completed it in such a short time anywhere else. I would recommend this route to anyone looking to complete an NVQ. Now, I am in the process of setting up my own business and I will build on my success from here. I know that doing a good job for my customers will secure mine and my family’s future and the customers I make will come back time and time again!”
