When you think about trade training or trade courses you probably think about on-site learning and hands-on learning. But as lockdown restrictions began to creep in and more people were stuck at home, we had to adapt our training methods so that the students could continue with their studies, no matter where they were.

During the lockdown we have turned to teach remotely as a way of allowing students to continue with their learning, however, it has proven so successful that we intend to continue to provide classroom training over the Internet for parts of the students’ learning. Obviously, practical training still takes place in the college, and our nationwide training centres are fully covid secure, with face masks worn at all times, floor markings throughout, and all tools sanitised regularly, but providing classroom training over the Internet provides all students with much more flexibility.

Students can undertake these classes at times that suit them and, very importantly, we record all live sessions, so students can watch the recordings as many times as they wish; whereas a lesson that takes place in a classroom is only available just once to a student. Students have found the ability to watch the recordings of the lessons over and over again particularly beneficial to them.

With our unique virtual software, you can start our welding courses, electrician courses, plumbing courses, gas engineering courses, and renewable energy engineering courses from the comfort of your own home, and fit it around your day-to-day life.

These online courses will go through the basic skills needed for these trades, allowing you to eventually progress onto our training centres and get hands-on using the skills you’ve learned from home.
