Overview

Before starting your Groundworker apprenticeship, it’s important to understand which path in the industry suits you best. A quick conversation with our team can help point you in the right direction and ensure you choose the training that fits your goals.

At The Skills Centre, we focus on providing a clear, structured route to becoming a fully qualified groundworker. Our aim is simple: give you the practical skills, support and confidence you need to build a successful career in construction and civil engineering.

Our Ground Worker Apprenticeship is designed for learners with little or no prior experience. From your first day of training right through to becoming a competent groundworker, we guide you every step of the way with industry-recognised teaching and assessments. As the first trade on site, you’ll prepare construction areas for structural works, handling excavation, drainage, concreting and more on housebuilding, commercial and infrastructure projects.

Training is flexible and built around your employment. With strong employer partnerships, our approach has a proven track record across all ability levels. You’ll receive the knowledge, practice and guidance you need to progress quickly and safely.

As part of the programme, you’ll develop competence in interpreting specifications, setting out, installing drainage and services, producing finishes and working safely, giving you the skills and confidence required to work professionally within the construction sector.
