Overview
The ProQual Level 2 NVQ Diploma for Brickwork Technicians is a nationally recognised, competence-based qualification designed for individuals currently working in the construction sector who perform brickwork activities. This is a fully online course with no classroom attendance or in-person sessions required.
Learners build and submit a comprehensive Portfolio of Evidence from their real workplace to demonstrate competence – all assessments are carried out in your actual working environment.

Bricklayer Course – Enrolment Now Open
Enrolment is now open for our fully online Multi-Skilled Bricklayer NVQ Course, suitable for those with some existing experience in bricklaying or related construction roles. This is not a class-based or classroom course – it is delivered entirely online, with no in-person attendance, group sessions, or tutor-led practical training required.
To achieve this qualification, you must be currently employed in the bricklaying or construction industry, as all evidence must come from real workplace activities (no simulated work is permitted).
You will compile and submit a Portfolio of Evidence including photos/videos of your work, assessor observations, witness testimonies, professional discussions, and other supporting documents to prove your skills and knowledge.

Duration: 540 Total Qualification Time (374 Guided Learning Hours).
Course Type: NVQ Diploma (competence-based)
Audience: Employed or training in brickwork roles (must be 16+ and have access to real work environment
Assessment: Pass/Fail, internally assessed and verified.
Start Date: 01/10/2024
End Date: 01/10/2027
Fees & Payment: A 50% deposit is required upfront, with the remaining 50% payable on completion of the NVQ course.
Entry Requirements: No formal academic requirements; initial assessment for skills
You are required to be already employed in the industry.
Your Bricklayer Training Begins
This is a competence-based qualification. This means you won’t be sitting in a traditional classroom or taking online exams. Instead, your skills are measured by how you perform your job in the real world.
Real-World Assessment
All practical assessment for this qualification must be carried out in a real working environment. Evidence of workplace skills cannot be simulated, ensuring that your qualification reflects the actual standards and pressures of the construction industry.
Building Your Portfolio of Evidence
To achieve your qualification, you are required to produce a Portfolio of Evidence. This is a comprehensive collection of records that demonstrates you have achieved all learning outcomes and met every assessment criterion.
What counts as evidence?
Assessor Observations: A qualified assessor watches you carry out practical work and records your performance.
Candidate Products: Physical examples or “products” of the brickwork you have completed.
Professional Discussions: Recorded conversations where you explain your technical knowledge and methods.
Witness Testimonies: Commentary from a suitably qualified or experienced expert who has seen you working.
Worksheets & Questioning: Records of oral and written questions used to verify your understanding of specific tasks
Assignments & Projects: Written reports or projects related to your brickwork activities
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL): Credit for skills and knowledge you have already mastered through previous experience.
Standards & Criteria
Assessment is the process of measuring your skill, knowledge, and understanding against the professional standards set in the qualification. You must demonstrate the exact level of competence described in the units to pass

Efficiency: Conforming to Productive Working Practices in the Workplace.
Resource Management: Moving, Handling and Storing Resources in the Workplace.
Technical Specialist Units
In addition to the core units, you will master the specific technical skills required for a Brickwork Technician:
Access Equipment: Using Access Equipment up to Six Metres in the Workplace.
Setting Out: Setting Out to Form Masonry Structures in the Workplace.
Specialist Masonry: Installing and Forming Specialist Masonry Elements in the Workplace
How You Are Assessed
This is a competence-based qualification. There are no online exams or classroom tests; instead, you prove your skills through a Portfolio of Evidence collected directly in a real working environment.
Your portfolio will include:
Observations: Reports created by your assessor while watching you carry out practical tasks live on-site.
Evidence: This includes “Candidate Products” (photos or videos of your finished brickwork), witness testimonies from experienced colleagues, and project reports.
Knowledge: Records of oral and written questioning and professional discussions to prove you understand the reasoning and safety requirements behind your practical work.
Important Note: Evidence of workplace skills cannot be simulated; all assessments must take place under real working conditions.
